Poor Butterscotch was having his temperature taken, the look on his face tells it all. He wasn't thrilled. We had him neutured that day, the surgery went well, he recovered very quickly.

Butterscotch is our 3 yr old male orange tabby. Friends in complex think he was a year older than 3. But our vet figured he was 3, we went with that information. His birthday is now June 22nd same as Becky's. He was the apartment complex stray where we used to live. His owner moved and left him behind. :( Three neighbors our end of complex looked out for him. Our boy was called either by following names, orange cat, tommy. When we first meet, he got name Butterscotch that stayed with him. :)
Our neighbor across way who happened to teach with Mark, was feeding our guy and keeping blankets out for him on cold evenings. In Feb 99 we started to let Butterscotch in to explore our apartment. By end of April, we told neighbor not to feed him we were going to start. End of May one a regular visit Butterscotch came in and stayed. :)
"Orange Cat" to our neighbors 3rd grade class was pleased to know he had a new home. Pictures were taken into school, kids also got to see his web site. Our neighbor got married and move to Western KY. Her students still ask how our guy is doing to this day. :) They now ask "How's Butterscotch doing"
On his first visit to the vet, our local paper was doing "24 hrs in Grant County". Lo and behold, they were at office while we were there. Butterscotch made front page of that special section. He knew he was one special kitty from that day forward.
Thumper is our 2 yr old female brown tabby. Born in month of Feb. We don't know exact day, so we can celebrate the whole month. :) We adopted her at PetSmart Nov 2000(local county shelter has spot in store for adopting dogs/cats). Her previous owners gave her up due to allergies. We were shopping for Butterscotch's xmas gifts and wandered over to adoption area. Just to "look". Well, we fell in love with Thumper instantly, she to us. It was a long 2 days before we could offically adopt her. It was the Thanksgiving holiday and shelter was closed for couple days. 2 days (on Saturday) after Thanksgiving we were up at county shelter at 7:45 a.m. to get paperwork to take back to PetSmart so we could take her home.
She got her name because when you pet her, the tail hits our body with a "thump". Thus the name Thumper. :) Thumper has been with us now 6 months. She is settling in nicely with us and her brother.
Skinny (probably little under 1 yr old), all black american short hair. He came to live with us offically over Labor Day weekend 2003. Skinny got named because of his size. He weighed in at 8.2 lbs while other gang is 16.2 and 16.4 lbs. :) Skinny warmed his way into our hearts by coming by everyday this spring and summer. Resting on our deck or front porch and helping me in the yard. The adjustment from the other two went well and everyone is great buddies. Skinny has put play back into our house. He loves to play chase. Thumper and Skinny seems to do the most playing together which is really cute. Skinny suffers from either inflammatory bowel diease or food allergies. It's been an interesting time trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Skinny goes to a specialist now and we love the new vet :)
Eleanor is 3 yrs old. She is a gray tortis cat. We adopted her on 6-5-04 from PetSmart. We weren't looking to adopt just went to store for food and litter and as always went over to adoption area to "visit the kids". She stole our hearts. She had a sister Betsy who hissed at us so we moved on down to check Eleanor out. She charmed us and won our hearts. Eleanor has blended in so well with our furry kids. It's like she has been here forever. |
